Ho Tzu Nyen's “Phantoms of Endless Day is an attempt to redeem and re-dream the past into new, possible futures. Continuing Ho's signature exploration of fragmented histories, philosophical inquiry, and narrative complexity, it becomes a remarkable new lens, through which to experience his distinctive set of visual and aural tales.” (LUMA Arles)
As part of a much larger team, I created an algorithmic editing system from the original film clips, creating multiple 15min loops across each character's story arc. Alongside Tim Moore, we generated over 10 hours of AI footage, combining custom trained models, video2video, faceswaps, and other generative techniques to re-envision Ho Tzu Nyen's unfinished film. I worked closely with the production and sound teams to coordinate across every sense.
Phantoms of Endless Day was commissioned by the LUMA Foundation is on display at LUMA Arles through the end of 2025.
